Someone once told me: “Why do you have a baby blog? You should have a blog about allergies, you know so much about them…” My answer was simple. Why isn’t my blog about allergies? Because my life is not about allergies. It was long time ago since the allergy was diagnosed for my baby and I’ve forgotten about it since. Well… kind off. Of course I need to check all the labels before giving anything to my daughter but other than that, I’m not thinking about it that much any more.
What is my life about?
My life is about waking up every morning & rushing to the kitchen to make breakfast for 5 people, than getting the kids ready for the day… It’s about taking care of every single aspect of our family life. I’m a mum. Like any other mum on this planet. Trying to do my best all through the day & lying to bed tired in the evening. Going to sleep every night with a wish in my heart to wake up next day being a better mum than I was today. I hope that at least some days my wish comes true and I’m on a good way of being a good mum for my children.
I am a mum…
Do you know what does “a blogger” mean? Blogger is a person highly dedicated to some very specific topic. S/he knows a lot about this topic and therefore can provide useful information to others.
Blogger should be an expert in his/her field, right? Am I an expert? No, I’m a mum! Is there such thing as “expert mum?” If so, it’s certainly not a mother of 3. It must be a mother of 10 or maybe 15. Expert mum (as I imagine her) always knows what she’s doing and what to do. She’s already seen everything and nothing surprises her. So it certainly cannot be me 😀 Sure there are lots of mums on some discussion forums who think they know better than all the other mums… But this doesn’t mean they’re expert mums either.
There’s a lot of Great Mums around us
As a matter of fact, I have never met any expert mum in my life. But I have met many great mums! How do you know that you’ve found a great mum? If you’re trying to asses something, no matter what it is, one of the first things you want to see are probably the results. What are the results of a great mum? Her children, of course. Children, who turned into decent adults, well able to take care of themselves and their families, emphatic, willing to help others… List here any qualities you consider as being important. If you know a mum, who managed to do so, you can tell that she’s a great mum. And there’s a lot that you can learn from her too 🙂 Maybe she’s made some mistakes but I’m sure she meant well and her kids turned out to be great. Anyway, the point that I’m trying to make here is, that you don’t know if you’re being a great mum until you’ve raised your kids.
Older mum as opposed to a brand new mum usually knows better simply because she’s not being caught up in the moment. She knows that the time flies and every little trouble you run into with your baby is temporary. Once your children are grown up, you can slow down or stop and think for a while. Evaluate what you’ve done well and what you could have done better. If you have such a great mum somewhere nearby to talk to, do so. Thank her for being a great mum and ask for advice. If she’s really great, she’ll tell you everything she knows. Her secret tricks that work every time and her mistakes too, so you can avoid them with your kids. And if she’s really REALLY great, she will respect you as a mother of your own children and she will never push her opinions upon yourself. She will support you and offer helping hand so you can become a great mum someday too.
Great mums know. They know that babies grow fast. No problem is as big as it seems to be at the time when you’re dealing with it.
I wish the best of luck to all of us – the young mums. I hope, we, young mums of today, will become great mums someday in the future and we will be here to pass down the wisdom to our daughters, who will become even greater mums that we ever were. Someday…
And don’t worry… I will keep writing my blog, even though I don’t feel like being an expert in anything. Some people have already told me that the information summed up in my articles have helped them. In my opinion, if there’s at least one other mum on this earth that I can help through my blog, I think it’s well worth it to write. I’m also very interested in your opinions, tips, tricks and advice. If you want to share it with the world (and me), please leave your comment below. Thanks 🙂
